Did you know there’s a difference between religion and Christianity? Religion is spelled D•O. It’s all about the things people do to try to gain God’s forgiveness and favor. But can you ever be sure you’ve done enough? In fact, the Bible says that everyone has sinned and fallen short of God’s expectations.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. (Romans 3:23)
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
Christianity is spelled D•O•N•E. What we could never do for ourselves, Jesus Christ has done for us. He lived the perfect life we couldn’t, and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty we owe for the wrongs we’ve done. God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while were were still sinners, Christ died for us.
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8)
All that’s required of us is to believe in Jesus, receiving Him as Savior and Lord of our life.
For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. (Romans 10:10-11)
You can receive Jesus right now. It’s not complicated or difficult. Just talk to Jesus, saying something like the following, and mean it in your heart.
Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, and unable to clean myself up. I acknowledge that You died to pay for my sins, and I receive You now as my Lord and Savior. Help me to begin to live a life that’s pleasing to You, from this day forward, for the rest of my life.
